Breakfast briefing: “Conflict of interest in ADR” – 12th May 2021

BICBA will host a breakfast briefing on the topic of “Conflict of interest in ADR” on Wednesday, 12th May 2021 from 8.30am to 9.30am.

The decision of Halliburton v. Chubb in the UK Supreme Court brought long-awaited clarity about the duties of an arbitrator to make disclosure of circumstances which may give rise to justifiable doubts as to their impartiality.

As we welcome the guidance brought by the ruling, we invite you to join us as we examine how the Court reached its conclusion and the impact of the decision on those involved in arbitration across the UK and Ireland’s different jurisdictions.

The event will be chaired by Mr. Justice David Barniville, who is the judge in charge of the Commercial Division of the High Court in Ireland and is also the designated Arbitration Judge under the Arbitration Act of 2010.

Our speakers Lydia Bunni, Barrister-at-Law at the Bar of Ireland and Andrew Singer QC will consider this landmark decision, as well as the wider issues arising from conflicts in all forms of ADR.
